Ashley Resolves Wetlands Issue at N.C. Furniture Factory Site

Ashley Furniture Inds. has reportedly cleared an environmental hurdle that will allow it to move forward with a proposed expansion of its $80 million Davie County manufacturing and distribution facility.

The Winston-Salem Journal reported that the company received a temporary proffered permit from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers on March 28 that is necessary to build on a wetlands site.

A Corps project manager, however, told the Journal that the permit is not finalized because the agency is waiting on the company to review it, sign it and send it back to the Corps.

Ashley is planning a groundbreaking at the site on April 17.
