Grandwood Furniture, a small solid wood furniture manufacturer in Lakewood, WA, whose plant was destroyed in an Aug. 7 fire here, is looking for a temporary location to resume operations, the Tacoma News-Tribune reports.
Owner R.J. Cleland told the newspaper he hopes to start shipping again in several weeks.
The fire, which investigators ruled was accidental, started in the plant’s finishing area and was likely caused by improperly disposed rags, the report said. Damage was estimated at $1.7 million.
Cleland told the News-Tribune that the company, which has more than a dozen employees and annual revenues of about $1.5 million, has sold to retailers including The Old Cannery in Sumner, Wash., and Issaquah, Wash.-based Costco.
