ourison, a rug and home accessories company based in New Jersey, partnered with the Never Give Up Foundation to host a Back to School event for foster and adopted children in Clark County, Nevada, on Aug. 18.
Nourison contributed 250 pairs of shoes for children ranging in age from 5 to 16. The event was held outside Nourison’s permanent showroom in Las Vegas, in the lobby of Building C of the World Market Center. Clark County is comprised of part of North Las Vegas.
“We are very happy to contribute to this worthwhile event for these wonderful kids, especially since it is literally in our own back yard in Las Vegas,” said Alex Peykar, principal at Nourison. “We believe strongly in giving back to the community we live and work in – whether it is in Las Vegas, New York, Atlanta, High Point, New Jersey, China or India.”
The company entered its partnership with the Never Give Up Foundation with the help of Catalina Pericon, Nourison’s Las Vegas showroom manager and director of the Never Give Up Foundation.
Founded by Matthew Cox and Dr. Kelly King, the Never Give Up Foundation focuses on helping children with learning disabilities and their families. The foundation is a resource for the Clark County Foster and Adoptive Parent Assn. and also partners with the Department of Family Services on various programs.
“The majority of the children with learning disabilities come from the foster care system,” Pericon said. “This includes ADD, ADHD, autism and PSTD. Our role at the Never Give Up Foundation is to educate parents about their child’s condition and to also help the children deal with their illness.”
Pericon and her husband have adopted seven children and are in the process of adopting another four.
