Volunteers from nonprofit organization Operation BBQ Relief are on their way to West, Texas, to help the families in need and the first responders after an explosion at a fertilizer plant Wednesday left more than 160 people injured and as many as 15 people dead.
The group, headed by Stan Hays (County Line Smokers), Jeff Stith (Big Creek BBQ) and Will Cleaver (Sticks N Chicks BBQ), was founded in 2011 to help feed the victims and first responders of the devastating tornado in Joplin, Mo. Since then, the group has sent volunteers to other areas impacted by disasters such as New York and New Jersey following Superstorm Sandy.
In addition to monetary donations, Operation BBQ relief is in need of: large aluminum pans, aluminum 1/2 pans, large 18-inch-wide aluminum foil rolls, extra large disposable gloves, three-compartment clam shells, paper towels, flatware combo packs (fork, knife, spoon, napkin), charcoal, wood and meat (sausage, chicken, pork butts, brisket).
