Michigan Mattress Recyclers, a new business here, aims to keep mattresses out of landfills by recycling bedding components.

The company said that in its first three months of business it has kept “tons” of mattress materials out of landfills.

Consumer Confidence Index Gains 3.2 Points in July

Consumer confidence improved slightly in July, but the widely watched Consumer Confidence Index remained at historically low levels.

The Conference Board said the index stood at 65.9 in July (1985=100), up from 62.7 in June.

Tempur-Pedic earnings down 45% as North American sales slide

LEXINGTON, Ky. — Bedding major Tempur-Pedic said second-quarter net income tumbled 45% as it faced new competitive pressures in the North American market.
