Bob’s Discount Furniture Charitable Foundation and Planned Furniture Promotions raised more than $447,000 for local charities helping children in need during their 25th annual charity golf outing and dinner on July 17.
“This event is about the children in the communities we serve, and it’s a labor of love,” said Bob Kaufman, co-founder of Bob’s. “We think it’s wonderful that for 25 straight years our employees, vendors and executive team have enthusiastically supported our commitment to these invaluable nonprofit organizations that help so many children in need.”
Funds raised will benefit charities including the American Red Cross, Nutmeg Big Brothers Big Sisters, American Cancer Society’s Camp Rising Sun, Family & Children’s Aid, The Jimmy Fund and Connecticut Children’s Medical Center.
Planned Furniture Promotions founded the golf outing and Bob’s Discount Furniture became an event partner when Kaufman and Gene Rosenberg, founder of Planned Furniture Promotions, opened Bob’s in 1991.
This year’s outing included a round of golf at the Tunxis Plantation Country Club in Farmington, Conn., followed by an evening event at the Farmington Club featuring dinner with silent and live auctions. Bob’s and PFP employees, industry partners and community members attended the event.
“Our ability to pursue promising scientific discoveries, have state-of-the-art technology and facilities, and recruit and retain skilled healthcare professionals who are dedicated to caring for children, is only possible with the support of partners like Bob’s,” said Martha Schall, president of Connecticut Children’s Medical Center Foundation. “For the past 15 years, Bob’s has chosen to make the health of children a priority in their charitable giving and we are deeply honored to be a beneficiary.”
