Consumers will be able to file complaints or concerns electronically via a new product safety database the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission plans for 2011.<\/p>\n
The CPSC will launch the database in March as part of www.saferproducts.gov. At that point, consumers can post their product concerns directly online.<\/p>\n
Manufacturers and purchasers can also post comments in response to the public complaints and have that information appear as part of the record in the database.<\/p>\n
Manufacturers and purchasers are encouraged to register with the CPSC in order to receive information about their products as it is submitted into the database.<\/p>\n
A search function on www.saferproducts.gov will also allow users to research the database for available product information before making a purchase.<\/p>\n
Consumers can continue to report product safety issues on the CPSC recall hotline (800) 638-2772. Manufacturers and purchasers can also continue to report product safety issues on their own accord.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
